BOISE, Idaho - Boise State sends seven swimmers and a diver to the NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships March 15-18 (Wed.-Sat.) at IU Natatorium in Indianapolis, Ind. The meet begins Wednesday at 4 p.m. MT with the 800 free relay finals, and on each of the next three days, prelims are scheduled to begin at 8 a.m. MT with the final sessions set for 4 p.m. MT starts.

Diving competition is set to begin at 10:30 a.m. MT Thursday (1-meter springboard) and Friday (3-meter springboard), and at 10:15 a.m. MT Saturday (platform). Saturday, the heats for the 1,650 free begin at approximately 1:45 p.m. MT.

Three Bronco swimmers, Brittany Aoyama (100 fly, 50 free, 100 free), Emma Chard (200 free, 500 free, 1,650 free) and Katelyn Martin (50 free, 100 free, 100 fly), each earned an invitation to the meet based on making the qualifying cut in an event. Sophomore diver Cassidy Bose qualified on platform with her 11th-place finish at the Zone E Championships on March 8. Four additional Bronco swimmers will make the trip as uninvited relay swimmers (Felicity Cann, Cody Evans, Ally Kleinsorgen, Abbey Sorensen) to compete in the five relay events in which Boise State qualified.

Aoyama (100 fly), Chard (500 free) and Martin (50 free) earned invites in their noted events, and with that earned the right to enter up to two additional events in which they hit NCAA "B" cuts during the season.

All prelim sessions, along with Wednesday's and Thursday's finals sessions, will be streamed through IUPUI's video portal (link above). Boise State At The NCAA Championships
Boise State has sent swimmers to the NCAA Championships in each of the last seven years, including this season. Diver Cassidy Bose (platform) is also the first diver to qualify for nationals in program history.

Boise State has scored points at the national meet twice in its history. In 2011, Amber Boucher finished 12th in the 100 back, scoring five team points for the Broncos. The following year, the 200 free relay of Boucher, Stevie Hughey, Sydney Johansen and Stephanie North took 16th to earn two points.

    Relays In The Top 16
Boise State qualified all five of its relay teams to the NCAA Championships in 2017. All five relays won their respective Mountain West title at the conference championships from Feb. 15-18, making the Broncos just the second team in conference history to accomplish the feat.

Three of Boise State's relay teams enter the NCAA Championships as a top-16 seed. The 200 free relay's qualifying time of 1:28.43 is seeded 14th at the national meet, while the 800 free relay's qualifying time of 7:03.96 is seeded 15th, and the 400 free relay time of 3:15.85 ranks 16th.

    Mountain West Championships Recap
Boise State won its third Mountain West swimming and diving title at the conference meet last month (Feb. 15-18), and became just the second team in conference history to sweep all five relay events. Overall, the Broncos won 10 events (five individual, five relay) to match the program record for most at a conference championship meet, and set or matched nine program records. The Bronco 200 free relay (1:28.43) and 800 free relay (7:03.96) also automatically qualified for the NCAA Championships by hitting A cuts.

Senior Brittany Aoyama picked up six titles, winning the 100 fly for the third-straight year as well as her first title in the 100 free, and was part of the 200, 400 and 800 free relays in addition to the 400 medley relay. Aoyama and fellow senior Katelyn Martin, who captured the 50 free for her first individual Mountain West title and was part of four winning relays, co-led the Broncos with seven All-Mountain West honors apiece.

Junior Emma Chard successfully defended her 200 free title in addition to runner-up finishes in the 500 and 1,650 frees, while sophomore Ally Kleinsorgen captured her first conference individual title, winning the 100 back.

Brittany Aoyama Aims To Etch Her Name As One Of Boise State's All-Time Best
This week's NCAA Championships marks the fourth in a row for Boise State senior Brittany Aoyama, a first for a Bronco swimmer. The Stockton, Calif. native is already Boise State's all-time leader in Mountain West event titles with 13, and, became the first swimmer in Mountain West history to win the 100 fly three times. Already Boise State's career leader in total individual event victories (64), Aoyama almost became the first Boise State swimmer to win three individual (non-relay) events at a single conference championship meet last month, as she won the 100 fly and 100 free titles, and finished second in the 50 free to teammate Katelyn Martin.

Bose Makes Boise State Diving History
Sophomore Cassidy Bose made history March 8, becoming the first Boise State diver to qualify for the NCAA Championships when she earned a spot on platform at the Zone E meets. Needing a top-11 finish to earn a spot at NCAAs, Bose stood ninth after prelims, and put together another strong list of dives in the finals to finish 11th and take the final qualifying spot on platform from Zone E.
