Bronco Swimmers and Divers Named to Scholar All-America Team

March 10, 2014

BOISE, Idaho—The College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) released their rankings for the Fall Scholar All-America Teams, which honors programs that have a GPA of 3.0 and higher for the fall semester. Boise State placed in the top five of institutions throughout the nation, finishing the fall semester with a 3.54 team GPA.

After the rankings were released, Boise State’s GPA was adjusted and finished the fall semester with a 3.56. With the adjusted GPA, the Broncos have the second-highest GPA in the nation, trailing only Alabama (3.60). Boise State and Alabama are the only programs in the top-five rankings with swimmers competing at the NCAA Championships this year.

The CSCAA Scholar All-America Team award is presented biannually, once after fall semester and once after spring semester.

Five current Broncos led the team with perfect 4.0 fall semester GPA’s, including Brooke Balogh, Heather Harper, Devin Madsen, Katelyn Martin and Sam Wicks.

Stevie Hughey also recorded a 4.0 GPA for fall semester. Hughey finished competing last season but completed her degree in the fall.

Harper, Martin and Wicks will head to NCAA Championships in Minneapolis, Minn., March 20-22, along with Brittany Aoyama, Jessica Bottelberghe and Sydney Johansen.
