What’s Happening:  The season is coming to a close, which means that the Boise State swimming and diving team is off to the Western Athletic Conference Championships in San Antonio, Texas this week. Competition will take place Feb. 25-28.

A Quick Glance at the 2008-09 Season:  The Broncos will once again take on the conference elite with high hopes and expectations. The Broncos finished in seventh place last year, which was one spot higher than the eighth place finish in their inaugural season. It has been a year of firsts with the record books being rewritten at almost every meet this season. The Broncos also picked up their first-ever dual win over in-state rival Idaho in January. Another season highlight came when the Broncos placed fifth at the Husky Invitational in December, only half of a point behind Hawai’i.

Individually, the Broncos earned two Swimmer of the Week honors this year. Freshmen Stephanie North and Amber Boucher each reeled in the award, joining current team captain Katelyn Lofland (who won the weekly honors in 2007-08 season) as the only Broncos to earn the award.

WAC Swimming and Diving Championship To Be Streamed Online:  The Western Athletic Conference, in conjunction with its Web site partner JumpTV Sports, has  announced it will stream the finals of all four night of the 2009 WAC Swimming & Diving Championships. On Wednesday, Feb. 25, there will be finals in two relays, the 200-yard medley and 800 freestyle.  Viewers that sign up, will be able to watch those two events for free.  Full schedules begin Thursday with finals in several events the next three nights.  Each of those three nights can be viewed for a subscription of $5.95 or a full championship package can be purchased for $9.95.  Finals begin at 6:30 p.m. CT on all four nights.
