DENVER, Colo. - Junior Amanda Burnett has been awarded the Verizon Wireless WAC Diver of the Week, becoming the first Bronco diver to ever win the weekly honor. The Broncos have earned five weekly honors for swimmer of the week this season, but have never won the weekly diving honor in program history.

Burnett, a junior from Glendale, Ariz. (Mountain Ridge HS), won both diving events in a dual meet against New Mexico State last Saturday.  She scored 217.35 points on the 1-meter and 215.48 on the 3-meter, coming up just shy of her personal bests set the previous week in a win over Idaho.

The landmark achievement for the divers is an appropriate ending to the swimming and diving team's most successful season in program history. The Broncos will next compete for a WAC Championship at the conference championship meet on Feb. 24-27.
