COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.-Boise State senior Amber Boucher was named Mountain West Swimmer of the Week for the third time this season, the conference announced Wednesday. Boucher broke an individual pool record, helped a relay claim another and won a total of four events Saturday, against Oregon State.
Boucher lifted Boise State to a 148-114 win against the Beavers of the Pacific-12 Conference at the Boise-West Family YMCA. She set the venue record in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:50.28 to win by nearly five seconds. The Keizer, Ore., native also swam the butterfly leg on the Broncos' record-setting 200-yard medley relay team. The mark of 1:44.52 is also good for No. 7 on the all-time list at Boise State. Boucher won the 100-yard butterfly in her final individual event, and swam the third leg of the Broncos' winning 400-yard freestyle relay.
This is the ninth confernce swimmer of the week award of Boucher's career after earning six such honors in the Western Athletic Conference. It is the fifth weekly honor this season for Boise State as fellow senior Stephanie North has two MW Swimmer of the Week awards.
