Broncos Go For Two-In-A-Row Over Idaho
What’s Happening: Its rivalry week in the waters at the Boise-West YMCA as the Boise State swimming and diving team takes on its rival from the north, Idaho, on Saturday at 1 p.m. The Broncos beat the Vandals for the first time in program history last season and went on to finish ahead of the Vandals at the 2009 WAC Swimming and Diving Championships. The Broncos will try to make it two-in-a-row and try to better their 6-1 WAC dual record.

The Competition:  The Vandals enter the rivalry meet with a 3-5 overall record in the 2009-10 season. They have a pair of marquee victories over WAC-rivals San Diego and Nevada, but recently took a pair of losses to New Mexico State and Northern Arizona. The Broncos’ schedule contains victories over every WAC school except Idaho and Hawaii, including decisive victories over both New Mexico State and Northern Arizona. The Vandals do not have any swimmers with a top time in the WAC while the Broncos have the top times in four events.

Special Promotions:  Fans are encouraged to wear orange to the meet on Saturday. In addition, orange pom poms will be given out to all fans in attendance. Come early and cheer on the Broncos to another dual win over their Gem State rivals!

On Idaho…
“Rivalries are always fun and exciting and we look forward to some good racing this weekend against the Vandals. We always swim fast at home and this season has been extraordinary because we've also beaten a lot of teams on the road. This meet is one more step in our preparation for reaching our peak as a team during our championships and as the season has progressed I know we are on track for success.”
