Broncos Return to Water

What’s Happening After over a month off, the Boise State University swimming and diving program returns to action this week with both a double dual and an 18-team invitational meet hosted by UC Irvine.

San Diego/Air Force The Broncos first travel to San Diego, Calif., to compete in a double dual against Western Athletic Conference foe University of San Diego and the Air Force Academy, Jan. 5, at 2:00 p.m. (PT).

The Toreros fell to Northern Arizona (49-36) in their last meet, Dec. 18. In their last competition, Nov. 19, the Falcons finished 11th at the Speedo Cup. San Diego also swam at the Speedo Cup, finishing right behind Air Force in 12th place.

UC Irvine Invitational After its double dual, Boise State travels to Irvine, Calif., to compete in the Ayres Hotel & Suites Invitational hosted by UC Irvine, Jan. 6-7.

The invitational consists of a sprints meet, a distance meet, a relay meet, and a diving meet held at the Anteater Aquatics Complex. Competition will begin at 9:00 a.m. (PT), Saturday, and 10:00 a.m. (PT), Sunday.

Joining the Broncos at the Ayres Hotel & Suites Invitational from the WAC are San Diego and San Jose State, as well as Brigham Young, Cal Poly, Cal State Northridge, Loyola Marymount, Pepperdine, San Diego State, UC Irvine, UCLA, Washington, Wyoming, Alaska-Fairbanks, Biola, Cal State East Bay, Chapman, and Whitman.

Last Time Out - The Boise State University swimming and diving teams competed in the program’s inaugural meet in a short-course meter pool, Dec. 2, at Flagstaff, Ariz.

The Broncos swam against New Mexico State and Northern Arizona, finishing second to each team at the meet.

Looking Ahead The Broncos host the first home swim meet in Boise State University history, Jan. 12-13, against WAC rival Nevada.

The women hit the water Friday at 6:00 p.m., and Saturday at 11:00 a.m., at the Boise West YMCA.
