More B Cuts For Boise State Friday

    COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Boise State swimmers recorded more NCAA B cuts while Brittany Aoyama and Sam Wicks posted U.S. Olympic trial cuts on day two of the Art Adamson Invitational in College Station.

    Aoyama’s time of 52.99 in the 100 fly A Final was also good for her first NCAA B cut of the season and a sixth-place overall finish. In the event’s D final, Katelyn Martin missed out on the B cut (54.49) by one-hundredth of a second, swimming a 54.50. In the morning prelims, Aoyama’s long-course time of 1:01.15 qualified as an Olympic trials cut.

    Wicks earned B cuts in the prelims and A Final of the 100 back, touching the pad in 53.75 (converted from long course) in the morning and finishing tied for sixth overall at night with a time of 53.53, the eighth-fastest in school history. Her long-course time of 1:02.29 also went down as an Olympic trials cut.

    In the B Final of the 100 back, freshman Ally Kleinsorgen recorded the first NCAA B Cut of her career, finishing fourth in 54.98.

    Diver Kacee Olson qualified for her second final of the weekend, finishing eighth on 1-meter with a score of 253.75. Karli Kriewall (239.15) and Cassidy Bose (238.70) finished 11th and 12th, respectively, in prelims.

    Emma Chard got her second B cut of the weekend under her belt, this one in the 200 free as she captured the B Final in a time of 1:46.52, the fifth-fastest time in school history. Felicity Cann finished seventh in that same B Final with a time of 1:49.61 for an overall 15th-place finish.

    Friday night’s finals began with the 200 medley relay, in which the Bronco quartet of Wicks, Laura Williams, Aoyama and Martin finished fourth in 1:39.79, the sixth-fastest time in school history. The night’s finals session concluded with the 800 free relay, which featured Chard, Aoyama, Blake Balogh and Felicity Cann taking third with a time of 7:12.08, the second-fastest time in school history.

    Amelia Draney qualified for the B Final in the 400 IM, finishing fifth in the race and 13th overall in the event with a time of 4:23.56.

    The invitational concludes Saturday at Texas A&M Natatorium.
