LOS ANGELES, Calif. - Senior Erin Kohlbeck paced the Boise State entrants on day one of the USC Diving Invitational at Uytengsu Aquatics Center by taking fifth in the 3-meter competition.

Kohlbeck scored 276.20 in the preliminary round, good enough for sixth and a top-12 ticket into the afternoon's finals. There, she posted a 286.50 to move up one spot and finish fifth. USC's Haley Ishimatsu (318.65) and Samantha Adams (309.30) claimed the top two places, respectively, in the 3-meter event with San Diego State's Alexandra Caplan (302.15) taking third and UCLA's Maria Polyakova (291.45) fourth.

"Erin did a great job putting together two solid lists this early in the season," said Bronco head diving coach John Lynch. "Her consistency this early on is very promising."

Boise State entered three divers into the 3-meter field, as Kohlbeck was joined by sophomores Karli Kriewall and Jordan Marthens. Kriewall just missed qualifying for the finals, finishing 14th in the preliminary round just seven-tenths of a point out of 12th place, and Marthens ended up 16th with a score of 236.15.

The invitational continues tomorrow (Friday) with the women's 1-meter competition.
