GREENSBORO, N.C. - Boise State swimmers Brittany Aoyama and Sam Wicks wrapped their first day of competition at the NCAA Swimming & Diving Championships Thursday at the Greensboro Aquatic Center.

Wicks was first in action, competing in the fifth heat of the 200 IM. Wicks took fifth in the heat, touching the pad in 1:58.78, a time that ranked 36th overall. The time was also the third-fastest in Boise State history, now giving Wicks the top five times in the Bronco record book in the 200 IM.

Aoyama competed in the 50 free, clocking a time of 23.16 to finish 57th overall.

"Sam had a good prelim swim with her third-best time, and we're excited for a fast 100 back tomorrow," said Boise State head coach Kristin Hill. "Brittany has been finishing races so well this year, and I know that she is ready to race again tomorrow."

Both swimmers will be back in action Friday, as Aoyama competes in the 100 fly and Wicks in the 100 back. Preliminary action is set to begin at 9 a.m. MT.
