Kriewall Takes Fifth On 1-Meter

USAFA, Colo. - Boise State finished up the first day of action at the AFA Diving Invitational Friday, paced by senior Karli Kriewall's fifth-place finish on 1-meter. Kriewall also topped the Broncos with a ninth-place finish on platform, followed by junior Kacee Olson in 10th.

Kriewall, who finished the 1-meter final with a score of 269.00, improved a spot from her prelim performance, during which she finished sixth with a score of 265.35. The Broncos nearly had two divers in the 1-meter final to start the day, as Olson just missed the cut by two-tenths of a point. Olson finished the prelims with a score of 257.70, just edged out of the final behind San Diego State's Marie Yacopino's score of 257.90. Cassidy Bose also finished in the top 16, scoring 241.30 to come in 15th in the prelims. Freshman Taylor Hosein (233.50) was 21st and Jordan Marthens (218.35) was 34th.

Wyoming's Karla Contreras captured the 1-meter event with a score of 307.80.

The Broncos returned for the platform competition in the evening, with Kriewall scoring 203.65 to take ninth and Olson notching a score of 201.05 to finish right behind her in 10th. Bose finished 30th with a score of 178.35 while Hosein (165.30) took 42nd.

The divers conclude action in Colorado Springs Saturday with the 3-meter springboard competition.
