LOS ANGELES-The Boise State divers competed this weekend, Jan.11-12, at the Bruin Invitational. The Broncos competed in the three meter and platform events, trying to get more practice in before conference and NCAA Zones in February and March, respectively. In a field of tough competition, senior diver Ciera Cortney placed second in the three-meter springboard with a score of 587.05.

Several schools from the Pac-12 competed at the invitational, including USC, Utah, California and UCLA. Cortney placed second (587.05) to winner Haley Ishimatsu from USC (630.95). Fresno State’s Hannah Prigge finished in third (581.30). Boise State’s Erin Kohlbeck finished ninth in a field of 18 (538.50).

The Broncos competed tough on the platform event on Sunday. Kohlbeck, the reigning Mountain West diver of the week, scored the highest Bronco mark. Kohlbeck finished seventh (434.40), Cortney placed eighth (433.90) and Jordan Marthens placed 10th (427.55).

"I'm proud of all four of my girls," said diving coach John Lynch. "It takes a lot to come off of a 13 day trip and compete the way they did. We are all excited to be home and ready to work hard and prep for the conference meet, zones and NCAA."

The divers will return to Boise and join the swimmers to host Denver on Jan. 25 at the Boise West YMCA.
