Sand Volleyball Falls to No. 1 USC 5-0

TUCSON, Ariz. - Boise State's sand volleyball team fell to top-ranked Southern California 5-0 Saturday morning in Tucson, Ariz. The Women of Troy recorded victories in all five contests to sweep. The Broncos moved to 4-6 on the year with the loss, while USC goes to 22-4 overall.

The match started with the fours, fives and an exhibition contest. At the fours the Broncos' pair of Casey Rose and Katelyn Kinghorn fell to USC's Bria Russ and Eve Ettinger 21-18, 21-9. Meanwhile, at the fives Taylor Murphey and Izzy Miller took on the Women of Troy's Nicolette Martin and Allie Wheeler falling in two sets 21-5, 21-14 to make the team score 2-0 USC.

The exhibition match featuring Laney Hayes and Kaitlyn Oliver went to USC as well by the scores of 21-7, 21-10.

The second half of the matches had the one, two and three pairs all playing. All ended nearly simultaneously. On court one Sarah Baugh and Sarah Horton took on USC's top duo of Kirby Burnham and Sara Hughes who defeated the Broncos 21-14, 21-15.

Aly Duffin and Maddy O'Donnell moved up to play on court two where they were downed 21-10, 21-13 by Kelly Claes and Alexa Strange. Both of USC's top two teams will be competing in next week's national pairs championship tournament in Alabama.

The final pair was at N. 3 where Boise State's Alyssa Gammel and Brittany Reardon played USC's Sam Hirschmann and Natasa Siljkovic. The Broncos fell in straight sets 21-16, 21-6.
