The Boise State softball team added one more player to the 2010 roster with the signing of Brittany Barcellos from South Lake Tahoe, Calif. Head Coach Erin Thorpe added the speedy, five-foot outfielder, who is the fourth player to sign with the Broncos in the early signing period.
Barcellos will join the Broncos from South Lake Tahoe High School, where she is a two-sport standout. She has been a four-year starter on the varsity soccer team as well as a three-year starter on the varsity softball team with her senior season yet to play. Barcellos has been named to the All-Sierra League team in all three of her high school seasons, the All-Region team in two of those seasons and was named to the All-State team in her junior season. Last year, she led the league with a .700 on-base percentage and was clocked at an incredible 2.7 seconds going from home to first.
“We feel that Brittany will bring tremendous athleticism and speed to our lineup,” said Thorpe. “We also feel that Brittany has the ability to be an impact player immediately and we expect great things from her. “
In addition to her accomplishments on the diamond, Barcellos also led the soccer team to the state championship game after winning the Sierra League in her junior season and was twice named to the All-Sierra team.
