Bronco Softball Inks Saenz

BOISE, Idaho-Boise State softball head coach Erin Thorpe announced Tuesday, Rose Saenz of San Gabriel, Calif., signed a National Letter of Intent to join the Broncos. Saenz is currently a senior at Kennedy High School, where she plays shortstop and third base.

Saenz was a team captain for the Fighting Irish as a junior in 2011, her first year at Kennedy. She also earned the Golden Glove Award as a junior. Saenz was a two-year letterwinner at Gabrielino High School during her freshman and sophomore seasons.

At Gabrielino, Saenz was twice named All-Mission Valley League, including first-team honors as a sophomore. She also earned the school's scholar athlete award twice and was a two-time Soaring Eagle honoree for her academic accomplishments.

Saenz also plays shortstop and third for USA Athletics 18 Gold and coaches Mike and Rose Rogers on the summer travel ball circuit. She has batted over .400 each of the past three summers, leading USA Athletics to the ASA Gold National Tournament.

Saenz is the fourth member of the Broncos' 2013 signing class. Boise State's 2012 season starts Feb. 10, at the Aggie Stampede in Davis, Calif.
