Two Broncos Named NFCA All-America Scholar Athletes

BOISE, Idaho – Freshmen Ashleigh Viers-Gordillo and Kellie Caplan were rewarded for their work in the classroom by being named All-American Scholar Athletes by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association.

This honor was given to student-athletes who maintained a GPA of 3.5 or above for the entirety of the 2008-09 school year.

Viers-Gordillo appeared in 51 games last year for the Broncos, including 50 starts. In addition to her stellar performance in the classroom, she did not commit an error on the field during the Broncos inaugural season. Caplan appeared in all 52 games for the Broncos, hitting .212 with one homer and 13 RBI.

The pair of Broncos are the first in program history to earn the award as the Broncos head  into their second season, which begins on Feb. 13, 2010.
