Oct. 23, 2014

BOISE, Idaho - Boise State assistant coach Taylor Smith will be honored Thursday night alongside her Washington teammates as the 2009 Women's College World Series champion squad is inducted into the Husky Hall of Fame.

Smith, a freshman on that team, got her career off to the perfect start that year, hitting a pinch-hit home run in her first collegiate at-bat. She would go on to appear in 21 games, making two starts and batting .238 with two home runs and five runs batted in.

The 2009 Washington team would go 51-12 that season, sweeping top-seeded Florida in the Women's College World Series best-of-3 final to capture the school's first NCAA softball title.

Smith, who would go on to earn All-Pacific Region and All-Pac-10 honors during her collegiate career, joined the Boise State staff in September, brought on by new Broncos head coach Cindy Ball.
