NAMPA, Idaho After over a year of preparation and a solid month of practice, the Boise State softball team finally took the field for the first time on Saturday at Halle Field on the campus of Northwest Nazarene University. The brand new program opened with a doubleheader against the College of Idaho and Eastern Oregon University.
The Broncos opener did not disappoint as their bats came to life and their pitching dominating all afternoon. The coaches, players, and the chanting fans that showed up for the games were very happy with display that the start-up program put on all afternoon.
“We played exactly how we wanted to come out and play,” said head coach Erin Thorpe. “It was our first game and we came out and played well.”
The Broncos will travel up to Saleh, Wash. for a doubleheader with the University of Washington, which ended its 2008 season ranked in the top-25, on Oct. 4. First pitch is scheduled for 11:30 a.m.
