BOISE, Idaho -- Boise State shortstop Rebekah Cervantes earned yet another honor Thursday as she was named to the Division I All-Pacific Region Third Team by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA).

Cervantes is now eligible for inclusion on the NFCA Division I All-America Team, which will be announced June 1.

The Visalia native becomes the fourth Bronco in program history to earn a spot on an NFCA All-Region team, joining Kathy Cox (first team, 2009; second team, 2010), Devon Bridges (second team, 2011) and Rebecca Patton (second team, 2012, 2014). Tuesday, Cervantes was named Mountain West Freshman of the Year, the first such award recipient in Bronco program history, as well as to the conference's first team.

Cervantes enjoyed a strong debut campaign, sharing the Mountain West lead with 13 home runs and ranking seventh with a .658 slugging percentage. She also led the Broncos with 36 runs scored while finishing second on the team in batting (.342), hits (50) and RBI (36) while being the only Bronco to start all 52 games in 2016.

She expanded her production during Mountain West play, batting .405 with 10 home runs, 24 RBI and a slugging percentage of .878, including a performance in which she batted .875 (7-for-8) with three home runs and seven RBI over three games against eventual Mountain West champ Fresno State (March 29-30).
