Boise State Selected for Seattle Regional

BOISE, Idaho –
Boise State, making its first appearance at the NCAA Tournament as the Mountain West champions, is bound for the Seattle Regional as a four seed. The Broncos will face host-Washington, the fifth-ranked team in the nation, and will be joined in the Emerald City by Minnesota and Texas.

The Broncos will open the Regional against Washington at 9:30 p.m. MT on Friday, May 18, at Husky Softball Stadium. The game will air on ESPNU. The Seattle Regional will be double-elimination tournament, with the winner of the region advancing to the Super Regional (May 24-27).

Closing the season on an impressive 13-1 run over the final month of the season, sweeping three of their last four series, Boise State enters the NCAA Tournament on six-game winning streak. This is only the second postseason appearance in program history after competing in the NISC last season, and the Broncos are one of four teams from the NISC field last season to reach the NCAA Tournament this year.

Boise State trails 0-3 in the all-time series against Washington, and 1-4 against Minnesota. Boise State has never played Texas in the program’s 10 seasons of existence.

The Huskies enter Friday’s contest with a 44-8 (15-8 Pac-12) record after finishing fourth in the Pac-12. This is the third-straight season Washington will host an NCAA Regional and Super Regional.
