COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.-Boise State sophomore outfielder Tara Glover was named the Mountain West Player of the Week for the week ending April 29, the conference announced Tuesday. It is Glover's third weekly honor of the season.
Glover helped Boise State take a 2-1 series win against Mountain West foe New Mexico Friday through Sunday, in Boise, Idaho. Glover registered a multi-hit game in each contest on her way to going 8-for-12 (.667) against the Lobos.
She ripped two home runs and a pair of doubles while scoring seven runs and driving in three more. Glover went 3-for-4 in each of the Broncos' wins during the series. The sophomore also scored three runs in each of those contests, an 8-5 win Friday and an 8-6 decision Saturday, at Mountain Cove Softball Field.Glover doubled twice in the series opener to set the Boise State single-season record for doubles (13). She homered in each of the next two games. Saturday's blast came leading off the fourth inning. In the finale, Glover led off the bottom of the first with her seventh homer of the year, a lined shot over the fence in center. The four-bagger was part of a 2-for-4 day to finish her weekend in Boise State's 6-5 loss in eight innings.
The Grants Pass, Ore., native slugged 1.333 in the series and picked up her league-leading 15th stolen base of the season. Glover also made four putouts as she played an errorless center field.
Glover and the Broncos will conclude their Mountain West schedule Friday through Sunday, at conference-leading San Diego State. Saturday's game at 1 p.m. (PT) can be seen live on The Mtn.
