COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.-Boise State sophomore Tara Glover was named the Mountain West Player of the Week for the week ending April 15, the conference announced Tuesday. Glover batted .700 in leading the Broncos to a three-game sweep of UNLV in the conference opener.
Glover led the Boise State offense in its first Mountain West series Friday through Sunday, at home against the Rebels. She went 7-for-10 with two home runs and two doubles, registering at least two hits in each game. The sophomore centerfielder also drew a walk and was hit by a pitch to post a .750 on-base percentage.
Glover led off the bottom of the first in game one with a solo home run to left center to give the Broncos the lead. She also scored the game-winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning as the Broncos walked off with a 3-2 victory. In game two, Glover again started the scoring with a home run to lead off the third inning. It was part of her fourth three-hit game of the season as the sophomore also doubled in the contest and Boise State raced out to a 7-2 lead before hanging on for the 7-5 win. In the finale she stroked two more hits, including a double that led to the Broncos' first run in a 5-4, comeback victory. The Grants Pass, Ore., native scored four times in the series, stole one base and slugged 1.500.
Glover and the Broncos (29-13, 3-0) will be back in action Friday through Sunday, at Colorado State. The Friday contest is slated for 4 p.m. (MT), and the Saturday and Sunday tilts will be played at 1 p.m., in Fort Collins, Colo.
