Broncos End Road Trip With Loss At BYU
PROVO, Utah The Boise State softball team finished up its eight game road trip with a 7-3 loss to BYU on Tuesday in Provo, Utah. It was the second consecutive loss for the Broncos (17-11), who went an impressive 5-3 on their trip through the state of Utah.

The Broncos were the first to cross the plate with a pair of runs in the second. After leading off the inning with a single, Laurel Wyatt came in to score on a Cougar error to give the Broncos the early lead. Kellie Caplan followed with an RBI single in the next at bat to extend the lead to 2-0. However, that would be the only time the Broncos would see the lead as the Cougars responded with three runs in the bottom half of the inning.

It was mostly Cougars after the initial Bronco lead. The Cougars put up another run in the third and tacked on three more in the fifth as they limited the visiting Broncos to only one run and two hits after the second inning. Kristin Delahoussaye led the charge for the Cougars, going 2-for3 on the day with three RBI. Christie Zinanti earned her first save of the season with three innings of no-hit relief that shut the door on any attempt at a Bronco comeback.

One more run did mange to come across the plate in the Broncos half of the fourth. Ashleigh Viers-Gordillo picked up the RBI on a fielders choice. The key run put the Broncos in striking distance as it cut the lead to 4-3.

The Broncos will try to snap their current skid when they return to the friendly confines of Mountain Cove on Friday. WAC play will continue with Broncos playing host to the 2008 WAC Tournament champions, Louisiana Tech, in a three game series. The two WAC-rivals will square off once on Friday at 3 p.m. and then play a doubleheader on Saturday with first pitch scheduled for 1 p.m.
