LOGAN, Utah It took three games for the Boise State softball team to earn its first win and only one try to get its first conference win. The Broncos (14-9, 1-0) won their Western Athletic Conference debut on Friday with a 2-0 shutout win over Utah State (6-17, 0-1). Allie Crump remained dominant in the circle, earning her second shutout in her last four starts.

The victory was Crump’s second complete game in as many days and boosted her record to 4-3 on the season. The freshman hurler tossed seven scoreless innings, struck out six Aggies, walked only one and allowed four hits. In the past four games, her ERA has dropped from 7.84 to 3.83 and she has not surrendered an earned run in the past 17 innings. Crump also retired the last 13 batters of the game in order to squash any thoughts of a comeback.

The Broncos only two runs came in the sixth inning off a Kathy Cox single into center. With runners on second and third and two outs, Cox broke the scoreless tie with a screaming line drive into center that brought home Kelsey Perkins and Lexi Straton. That would be all the Broncos needed to win their second straight game and first-ever WAC game.

The Broncos and Aggies will take to the field again tomorrow in a doubleheader at 1 p.m. in Logan, Utah.
