Capobianco Earns Broncos First WAC Hitter of the Week
DENVER Freshman Christina Capobianco earned her first weekly honor and became the first Bronco in history to earn WAC Player of the Week in softball. The 1B/DP led the Broncos to four consecutive wins that boosted the first-year team’s record to 9-7.

Capobianco, a freshman first baseman/designated player from Laguna Niguel, Calif. (El Toro), hit .909 with one double, five home runs and 12 RBI as the Broncos went 4-0 on the week. She was 10-of-11 on the week and was retired only one time, on a fly ball caught in deep right center. In a 13-1 win over Northwest Nazarene, Capobianco was 4-for-4 with a pair of home runs and four RBI. She then posted another pair of homers and four RBI in a 7-4 win over Idaho State. Capobianco capped the weekend with the go-ahead home run in the top of the seventh inning in a 4-3 win over College of Idaho. She is in the midst of a five-game hitting streak and has at least one RBI in each of the last five games.

Boise State will stay in the friendly confines of Mountain Cove when they host Utah Valley at 1 p.m. on Saturday and Idaho State at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
