Capobianco Powers Broncos To Victory
BOISE, Idaho The Boise State softball team has yet to lose a game on its home field. The Broncos (9-7) defended their home turf with a dramatic 4-3 win over the College of Idaho on Sunday at Mountain Cove. The Yotes and Broncos found themselves in a pitchers duel through most of the game. The Broncos were the first to get on the board when they broke the scoreless tie in the top of the fifth. Ashleigh Viers-Gordillo continued her hot weekend with a long double off the fence in right center field to lead off the inning. She advanced to third on a Kathy Cox single. Next up, Capobianco picked up her first RBI with a shot to third that brought in Viers-Gordillo. Boise State made it 2-0 in the sixth when Laeha Hill doubled in Kelsy Perkins.

The Yotes responded with a pair of long balls. With two outs, Heather Dixon sent a homer over the left field fence to cut the lead to one run. Two batters later, Haley Butcher gave the Yotes their first lead of the day with another shot over the left field fence, making the score 3-2.

However, the Broncos weren’t finished. In the top of the seventh, Cox led off with an infield single. Cox hustled down the line to beat out a slow roller to the shortstop.  Capobianco stepped up to the plate and launched a 1-2 pitch over the right center field the fence to regain a 4-3 lead and eventually the win for the Broncos.

The Broncos will host Utah Valley and Idaho State in a pair of doubleheaders at 1 p.m. on next Saturday and Sunday, respectively.
