Four Games Ahead at Saint Mary's
Boise State softball travels to the Gael Classic this weekend in Moraga, Calif. The Broncos will play two games against host Saint Mary's and two against Sacramento State. Boise State will face each team once Saturday, and once Sunday.
The Broncos (6-9) open the tournament against the Gaels (5-10) at 10 a.m. (PT), Saturday, from Cottrell Field. The two teams will also meet in Boise State's final game at the tournament. The second meeting is scheduled for noon (PT), Sunday.
Boise State takes on Sacramento State (5-5) at 2 p.m. (PT) Saturday, and again Sunday at 10 a.m. (PT).
Saint Mary's and Sacramento State are both familiar opponents to the Broncos, but it has been a while. The only previous meeting against the Gaels came April 3, 2011, a 5-3 win for Boise State. Only three current Broncos were on the roster at the time. The Broncos and Hornets met up for a doubleheader in Sacramento March 30, 2010. The teams split the meetings. No current Broncos were on the team for those games.
Live stats will be available for each game. Check the schedule page at for more information.
Off and Running
Boise State has 38 stolen bases through the first 15 games of the season. The Broncos are 38-of-46 on steal attempts. It took until the 35th game last season for Boise State to steal its 38th bag.
Base Thief
Senior Tara Glover is 56-for-61 on stolen base attempts in her Boise State career, owning the school record for steals and stolen base percentage. She set the single-season record with 18 in 2012, before breaking it again last year when she went 27-of-28 on the base paths. Glover is 11-for-11 this season and is riding a school-record streak of 23-straight successful steal attempts...Her only caught stealing of the 2013 season came after oversliding the bag at second March 24, against Tulsa. Before that she was 15-for-15, the best start to a season in school history. It snapped a string of 17-consecutive successful steals, a then-school record.
Bridges Back in a Big Way
Senior Devon Bridges saw her first extended action at the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic (Feb. 20-23), playing in all five games. Bridges had only seen time in two of the previous 10 games, battling an injury. She went 5-for-8 with a home run, four RBI and two walks at the tournament.
