Hendrickson Is MW Player Of the Week
Feb. 21, 2017

BOISE, Idaho - Proving that it is possible to come home from a weekend in Las Vegas not empty-handed, Boise State senior infielder Corey Hendrickson was named Mountain West Player of the Week after her sterling performance at the DeMarini Desert Classic, the conference announced Tuesday.

Hendrickson's weekly honor is the first for a Bronco since Buggs Torrez was recognized by the conference back on May 6, 2014.

Hendrickson brought the power and the heroics over Boise State's 4-0 weekend, batting .625 (5-for-8) while smashing two walk-off home runs among her four total, driving in nine runs and slugging an eye-popping 2.250. All five of her hits over the weekend went for extra bases, with a double accounting for the fifth hit. Hendrickson's first walk-off homer came Friday against Memphis, when she led off the bottom of the seventh inning with a solo shot to give the Broncos the 2-1 win. The second came in Sunday's opener against Southern Utah, in which she hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the fifth that put the Broncos up 9-1 and triggered the eight-run mercy rule.

The Arvada, Colo., native capped her weekend by going 3-for-3 with a double, two homers and a Boise State single-game record-tying six RBI in the Broncos' 16-7 win over UTEP.

Thanks to the unbeaten weekend, Boise State is now 5-2 this season, its best start over the first seven games since also opening 5-2 in 2012.
