Boise State Picked to Finish Third

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.-Boise State softball opens its first season in the Mountain West, picked to finish third in a poll of the conference coaches. The Broncos received nine points to finish behind San Diego State (16) and UNLV (13).

The Broncos placed just ahead of New Mexico (eight points) which returns 10 starters, including a pair of 2011 All-MW selections. Colorado State finished fifth with four points. San Diego State picked up four first-place votes, while UNLV earned the fifth.

The Mountain West does not sponsor a conference tournament in softball. The champion and recipient of the automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament will be determined by the regular-season standings.

The Broncos begin conference play with a home series April 13-15, against UNLV. They will also play at home April 27-29, against New Mexico. Boise State hits the road in conference play to face Colorado State (April 20-22) and San Diego State (May 5-7) to finish the season.

Boise State will begin its fourth season of softball Feb. 10, against Loyola Marymount and Nevada at the Aggie Stampede in Davis, Calif. First pitch is scheduled for 9 a.m. (PT) against the Lions.
