BOISE, Idaho-Boise State sophomore Devon Bridges was named the preseason Mountain West Field Player of the Year by CollegeSportsMadness.com, Monday. Bridges earned first-team All-Western Athletic Conference and second-team All-Pacific Region honors as a freshman.

Bridges made a resounding debut in 2011, setting Boise State single-season records in batting average (.393), RBI (53), walks (37), on-base percentage (.531) and slugging percentage (.785). The Danville, Calif., native also led the team with 16 home runs last season, tying for the national lead with three grand slams. College Sports Madness named Bridges as the first-team utility player on its 2012 preseason All-MW team.

Joining Bridges on CollegeSportsMadness.com's preseason All-MW First Team is senior Allie Crump as a pitcher/utility player. Crump was a first-team All-WAC selection in 2011after going 14-7 in the circle and finishing second on the team with a .338 batting average and 10 home runs.

The Broncos placed three players on CSM's preseason second team in seniors Kellie Caplan and Aubray Zell and junior Holly Bourke.

She tallied a 14-5 record with a school-record 2.52 earned run average. Zell's season was highlighted by a streak of 34-consecutive scoreless innings pitched, including the first no-hitter in Boise State history, March 4.

Caplan and Bourke each earned second-team nods as infielders. Caplan hit .330 in 2011, leading Boise State with 63 hits and 36 runs scored. Bourke became the first Bronco to reach 100 career hits in her sophomore season, batting .322 with 56 hits, 35 runs scored and 31 driven in during the 2011 season.
