BOISE, Idaho - A day after hitting five home runs, the Boise State offense fell silent, getting just three hits Saturday in a 13-0, five-inning loss to San José State at Dona Larsen Park.

Boise State (13-35, 5-15 MW) will look to salvage the series Sunday on Senior Day, with first pitch against the Spartans scheduled for noon. The Broncos will honor seniors Kayla Clausen, Ariel Frantz, Teauna Hughes and Nicole Wilson following the game.

Saturday, San José State (24-24, 13-7 MW) kept up its hot bats, hitting three home runs a day after sending four out of the park. Madison Aurin, Jessie Hufstetler and Taylor Purdy did the honors for the Spartans, with Purdy's two-run liner to left in the fourth the kill shot that helped put San José State well into eight-run mercy-rule territory.

Aurin went 2-for-2 and added a two-run double to her first-inning homer while driving in five runs to pace the Spartans. Hufstetler drove in three with her homer in San José State's six-run second that opened up a 3-0 lead into a nine-run advantage. Aurin's shot, a three-run job, came in the first inning as the Spartans built their early three-run lead.

The six-run second helped the Spartans chase Bronco starter Paige Reimann from the contest. Reimann, who took the loss Saturday with eight runs given up on four hits and four walks over and inning and a third, left the game with two on and one out in the second, and Hufstetler promptly sent reliever Shawna Burke's first pitch deep and out to center to make it 9-0.

Meanwhile, San José State's Katelyn Linford shutout the Broncos over her five innings of work, improving to 8-10 and allowing just three hits. Tatiana Sorokina had two of those hits for Boise State, with Cassidy Edwards providing the final Bronco hit.
