LOGAN, Utah - Utah State came back from three runs down in Sunday’s finale against Boise State, capping the comeback with Libby Pederson’s walk-off homer in the seventh for the 8-7 win at Johnson Field.

Boise State (12-31, 4-11 MW) will look to rebound from the sweep as it opens a six-game homestand at Dona Larsen Park next Friday-Sunday (April 29-May 1) against New Mexico.

Utah State’s comeback erased a six-run Bronco fifth, highlighted by sophomore Makenzie Sullivan’s grand slam, that put Boise State ahead 7-4.

The Aggies (22-20, 8-7 MW) got a run back in their half of the fifth on Alleyah Armendariz’ RBI then tied it in the sixth behind a pinch-hit RBI single from Sydnee Hart and a Noelle Johnson fielder’s choice that scored Bailey Lewis with the tying run.

Pederson then led off the seventh with a solo homer, her fourth of the season, off of Bronco starter Nicole Wilson to complete Utah State’s sweep.

Wilson fell to 6-8 with the loss, allowing eight runs on 11 hits with two strikeouts. Armendariz improved to 2-4 with the win in relief, allowing just one hit over the final two innings.

For the Broncos, Sullivan made her only hit of the contest count, jumping on the first pitch from Johnson and sending a towering drive deep and out to right for her fifth homer of the campaign.

The Broncos trailed 4-1 entering the top of the fifth, and got three-straight singles from Tatiana Sorokina, Izzy Serrano and Rebekah Cervantes to load the bases with one out. Teauna Hughes grounded out on a slow roller to short, allowing Sorokina to score and make it 4-2. Morgan Lamb then walked to load the bases and set up Sullivan’s homer.

A double from Corey Hendrickson chased Johnson and was followed by Shaelee Pearson being hit by a pitch and Kayla Clausen drawing a walk against reliever Katie Schroeder. Sorokina then earned a free pass to bring in pinch-runner Kaelie Doyle with Boise State’s seventh run.

Johnson was charged with all seven runs over four and two-thirds innings and struck out five batters for the Aggies.

Serrano and Hughes each went 2-for-4 for the Broncos Sunday. Jazmin Clarke was the only Aggies with two hits, going 2-for-3 and scoring twice.

The Broncos struck first in the contest on Pearson’s RBI single in the second. Utah State answered with two in the third as Sarah Chow tripled to score Jazmin Clarke then stole home a batter later. The Aggies stretched their lead to 4-1 in the fourth on Victoria Saucedo’s two-run homer.
