FRESNO, Calif. - Boise State starter Nicole Wilson was able to pitch her way out of three-straight jams Sunday, but Fresno State finally broke through in the fourth and went on to finish the sweep of the Broncos with a 5-0 win at Margie Wright Diamond.

Boise State (10-35, 2-13 MW) returns home for next weekend's three-game set against Colorado State. The series begins Friday (April 24) at 4 p.m. at Dona Larsen Park.

The Bulldogs put runners in scoring position in each of the first three innings but came away empty-handed as Wilson was able to get key outs with help of her defense. In the second, the Bulldogs loaded the bases with one out for Brenna Moss, but Bronco third baseman Makenzie Sullivan made a highlight-reel play to snag Moss' line drive then dive to third to double off Bria Kennedy. The following inning, the Bulldogs put runners at second and third but Wilson was nails again, getting Paige Gumz to foul out to catcher and Alyssa Villalpando to fly to right to quell the threat.

But the Broncos couldn't mount much in response against Bulldog starter Jill Compton, who picked up the win for the third time this weekend, striking out 10 and allowing just five hits to improve to 22-10. Boise State did put runners on first and second with two out in the second inning, and at the corners with one out in the sixth, but could not plate a run either time.

Fresno State (34-14, 14-4 MW) finally broke through against Wilson in the fourth. Kennedy opened the frame with a walk and was bunted to second by Chase LeeHong. Wilson got Whitney Smith to pop out to short, and it looked like the Broncos were going to dodge another bullet but it wasn't to be as Brenna Moss bounced a single up the middle to score Kennedy. Moss, who advanced all the way to third on the throw home, then came in on Malia Rivers' base hit.

The Broncos put runners on the corners in the top of the sixth thanks to back-to-back singles from Sara Ketelsleger and Devon Bridges, followed by Ketelsleger stealing third, but Compton struck out pinch-hitter Laina Holmgren and Izzy Serrano to end the frame.

Fresno State put it away in its half of the sixth, putting up three runs to go up 5-0. Leehong led it off with a double and scored a batter later on Moss' single. That would signal the end of the day for Wilson, as she was relieved by Rachel Rodriguez.

After Rivers singled off Rodriguez and advanced on the throw to third to put runners on second and third, Willis dropped one into right field to plate the pair for the final runs of the game.

Rivers led the Bulldogs with a 3-for-3 day while Moss and Willis each had two hits and a pair of RBI.

Wilson, who went 5.1 innings, gave up four runs on eight hits to fall to 2-9 on the year. Makenzie Sullivan had a pair of hits, including a double, to lead the Broncos on offense, while Bridges, Ketelsleger and Serrano accounted for the remaining Boise State hits.
