Game One | Box Score

A seventh inning rally propelled Boise State to a 7-5 win in game one of the doubleheader. The Broncos entered the top of the inning trailing 5-3, but exploded for four runs to take the lead and force the game to go into the bottom of the seventh.

Kora Wade led off the inning by reaching on an error, and later stole second for her 21st stolen base of the season. Wade is now a perfect 21-for-21 on stolen base attempts this season.

With two outs in the inning, sophomore Jessica McKay would provide the lift Boise State needed, hitting a two-run shot to right field to tie the game at 5-5. Shaelee Pearson would be hit by a pitch, and Alison Seng would draw the walk to put two runners on base.

A wild pitch would advance both to second and third, and Makenzie Sullivan would hit a single up the middle to send both runners home for a 7-5 lead. Kelsey Broadus would come on in relief, pitching a perfect bottom of the seventh inning for her first save of the season.

The Broncos took a 2-0 lead early in the game with Wade scoring from third on a passed ball in the top of the first, and a home run from Sullivan in the top of the second. Portland State would power back with a combined five runs, all unearned, in the bottom of the second and bottom of the third to take the lead.

Micaela Leal recorded the win, striking out four batters in 3.2 innings of relief.

Game Two | Box Score

Boise State would also use a late inning rally to win game two of the doubleheader, but this one would come in the sixth inning instead of the seventh.

In the top of the sixth, Boise State was able to tie the game at 2-2 with one out. Ashlyn Adams hit a ball along the right field line that was ruled a ground rule double after going behind the outfield fence, driving in Seng from second and putting runners on second and third for the Broncos.  On the next at-bat, Halle Harger hit a deep sacrifice fly to right field that brought home Sullivan from third to give Boise State a 3-2 lead.

Boise State would add another pair of runs thanks to an error at second base in the inning to take a 5-2 lead.

In the bottom of the inning, Portland State got two runners on with no outs, and Boise State would again turn to Broadus to close the game. Broadus would record the final three outs of the inning while only allowing one runner on base on a walk.

The Broncos would extend their lead on a solo home run from Jessica McKay in the top of the seventh, while not allowing a single Viking on base in the bottom of the inning to preserve the win.

The Broncos jumped to an early 1-0 lead thanks to a home run to right field from Rebekah Cervantes in the top of the first in the second game of the doubleheader.

Broadus ended the game allowing only a walk while striking out three batters in two innings of relief for the save. Starter Gianna Mancha allowed only one earned run with five strikeouts for the win.
