Tempe, Ariz. -

Boise State softball suffered a 9-0 loss to No. 8 Oregon in five innings Sunday, at the Kajikawa Classic. The Broncos (1-4) were held to two hits for the second-straight game. Ashley Palmer and Hailey Torrez each recorded a hit.

Tara Glover led off the game with a walk to give the Broncos early momentum. It was quickly squashed when Glover was called out for leaving the bag early on a steal attempt. Two strikeouts later the Ducks were at the plate.

Boise State starter Rebecca Patton worked around a one-out single to keep Oregon off the board in the first. The inning ended on a pop up caught by Glover after ricocheting off Jordan Kreiger. Palmer started the second with a single to center, but again the Broncos could not take advantage of a leadoff base runner.

Oregon did not have the same issue. A leadoff walk started a seven-run inning. With two on and one out, a sacrifice fly scored the first run of the game but brought the Broncos within an out of escaping the inning. Instead, the Ducks rattled off a triple, two doubles and a single to extend the lead to 5-0 and chase Patton from the circle. Mackenzie McGill entered the game and allowed three hits before getting a strikeout to get the Broncos back in the dugout down 7-0.

Glover walked again in the third inning, but that was it for the Broncos. She finished the game without an official at bat

After Oregon added two runs in the fourth, Torrez began the fifth with a single down the left field line. The next three Broncos struck out to end the game. Boise State did not advance a runner to scoring position.

Patton (1-2) took the loss allowing six runs on five hits and two walks in one and two-thirds innings of work.

Boise State returns to action next weekend in Las Vegas. The Broncos will play five games in three days at the Easton Desert Classic, beginning with a Friday doubleheader.
