Soccer Earns Team Academic Award From NSCAA...

The Boise State soccer team has been recognized by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) for its academic performance in the classroom for the 2009-10 academic year. This is the second-consecutive year the Broncos have received the NSCAA Team Academic Award after recording a combined team GPA of 3.19 among the 27 members of the squad.  The Broncos were one of five Western Athletic Conference teams recognized for their classroom success joining Louisiana Tech, New Mexico State, San Jose State and Utah State.

During last year’s academic year Boise State placed 11 members of their squad on the Western Athletic Conference All-Academic Team, or 40.7 percent of the student-athletes.

Since Boise State joined the WAC for the 2001-02 academic year the Broncos have led the league in classroom success. They have had the most individuals named to the WAC All-Academic Team with 50 and the most total honors received by the team with 100.

Since Steve Lucas took over as head coach in 2000 a total of 103 athletes have played for him (total does not include this year’s newcomers). Out of that group 53 have made the conference all-academic team at least once during their careers, 52 percent of his student-athletes.
