BOISE, Idaho - Boise State University will not renew the contract of women's soccer coach Steve Lucas, Bronco Director of Athletics Mark Coyle announced today (Nov. 6).

Lucas was the head coach the past 13 years posting an overall record of 111-116-28.  He spent two years as an assistant coach for the Broncos before taking over the head coaching duties on January 18, 2000.

His contract expires on January 31, 2013.

This year's team finished with an overall record of 9-9-2 and a 4-2-1 mark in the Mountain West Conference.  The Broncos were the No. 3 seed at last week's league tournament before being eliminated in the first round by Nevada, 1-0.

Prior to joining the Bronco program Lucas was an assistant coach at Southern New Hampshire University, where he also played his collegiate soccer.

A national search will begin immediately for a new women's soccer coach at Boise State.

Boise State has played in the Mountain West the past two years, and will move to the Big West Conference beginning next season (2013).
