DeVries against Wyoming

Nov. 4, 2013

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The Mountain West Conference has announced Boise State's freshman defender Hailey DeVries as its defensive player of the week, for competition through Nov. 2.

DeVries, the Littleton, Colo., native helped Boise State finish its last two games undefeated. The freshman defender was instrumental in stopping a pair of Utah State counter-attacks, assisting in the 1-1 tie.

Against Air Force, DeVries assisted in the first half shutout over the Falcons. The Arapahoe High School graduate has played in every game in her rookie season. She has helped the Bronco backline to only allow 17 goals this season, a league-leading stat.

Up next for the Broncos is the Mountain West Tournament, held in Albuquerque, N.M., Nov. 4-9. The No. 3-seeded Broncos (11-6-2, 5-3-1) will play the winner of No. 6 UNLV (10-8-2, 5-5) or No. 7 Wyoming (7-10-3, 4-4-2) Tuesday, Nov. 5 at 4 p.m. MST. The game will be broadcast live on the Mountain West Network.
