COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.-Boise State senior goalkeeper Liz Ruiz was named Mountain West Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week, the conference announced Monday.

Ruiz notched a shutout against in-state rival Idaho last Saturday, helping the Broncos close out their regular-season slate with a 1-0 win. Playing in the final home match of her career, Ruiz-a Boise native- made five saves through 90 minutes of work against an aggressive Idaho offensive attack that generated 14 total shots and produced six corner kicks.

It is the second such honor of the season for Ruiz. She has earned four conference player of the week awards in her career, garnering Western Athletic Conference accolades once in each her sophomore and junior seasons.

The Broncos (8-10-1, 2-4) will begin their run at a conference title Wednesday, in quarterfinal action at the Mountain West Women's Soccer Championship in Albuquerque, N.M. Boise State faces UNLV at 3 p.m., at the UNM Soccer Complex.
