BOISE, Idaho (10/31/2009) – Boise State junior Shannon Saxton has been named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District third team as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). The standout for the Bronco soccer team is a two-time Academic All-WAC honoree maintaining an accumulative grade point average of 3.34 in communication. This honor recognizes student-athletes on an annual basis for their accomplishments in the classroom and on the field. Saxton is the first Bronco soccer player to ever earn this award.
Saxton, a native of Beaverton, Ore., has been an impact player on the field since arriving at Boise State writing her name into the Bronco record book where she can be found in 46 of 59 statistical categories. She currently holds the program match records for most points (9) and tied for most goals (4); season record marks are most points (39), most goals (17) and most assists (8); her career records include most points (73) and assists (15). She is one goal off tying the record for career goals with 29.
