Boise State and Nevada Play To Scoreless Draw In Soccer, Parker Sets Shutout Record?

RENO, Nevada (10/13/06) Boise State and Nevada played to a scoreless draw Friday night in Western Athletic Conference soccer action at Mackay Stadium in Reno. Neither team was able beat the opponent’s defense and keeper through regulation and two overtime periods. Nevada held Boise State’s WAC leading scoring offensive without a goal for only the third time in 13 matches this season.

 

On the night, the Wolf Pack had a 10-to-3 advantage in shots on goal.  Boise State’s Kim Parker came up big in goal for the Broncos with ten saves, three in overtime, on the night as she recorded her first shutout of the season. In the process of shutting out Nevada Parker set a new Boise State record for career solo shutouts with 10 and extended her record for combined (solo and shared) shutouts to 18.

 

Leading Boise State offensively were Katie Keller, Melanie Bohnet, and Randi Baker who each placed a shot on goal. Keller’s shot came in the first half while the other two were second half chances. Baker also had a shot sail wide in the first half, Kristin Hall, Nicole Coleman, and Kaylea Perenon each watched shots miss in the second period.

 

The draw moves Boise State to 6-5-2 overall and 1-1-1 in conference play, while Nevada goes to 7-3-3 overall and 0-1-1 in WAC action. The Broncos’ final road trip of the regular season continues Sunday when they take on the WAC preseason favorite Fresno State at 2:00 p.m. (mountain) in Bulldog Stadium.
