Heidemann Takes MW Honor
Oct. 12, 2015

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Boise State senior Brooke Heidemann has been named the Mountain West Offensive Player of the Week Monday, after tallying seven points to lead the Broncos to a weekend sweep against UNLV and Nevada. Heidemann recorded three goals and an assist across the two games as Boise State won by a combined score of 7-1.

The award is Heidemann's first of the season and third of her career. The Meridian, Idaho, native has earned a three of Boise State's five all-time MW Offensive Player of the Week honors since joining the conference in 2011. Shannon Saxton holds the school record for weekly awards with four WAC Offensive Player of the Week accolades. Heidemann is the first Bronco to win a weekly offensive award in three different seasons (2013, 2014 and 2015). Goalkeepers Kim Parker and Liz Ruiz each earned defensive player of the week awards in three different seasons.

Against UNLV Friday, Heidemann scored the first goal of the match in the 36th minute on a 25-yard rocket across the face of the goal and off the inside of the right post. In the 50th minute she assisted on Kayla Tucker's goal, sending a 40-yard through ball into the box that Tucker reached before the keeper and put away for a 4-0 lead.

At Nevada Sunday, she scored the first two goals of the match. In the 34th minute she put away a deflected cross, running full speed onto the ball five yards out from the left post and punching it to the roof of the goal. Less than a minute into the second half she struck again. Heidemann stole the ball near midfield, pushed up the right flank and fired a bullet from 24 yards out on the right side straight to the back of the net.

With Heidemann at the controls, Boise State put together its most fruitful offensive two-game stretch in five years. She scored or assisted on four of the team's seven goals, the most scored by the Broncos in consecutive matches since scoring 10 in back-to-back games in 2010.

Heidemann currently leads the Mountain West in scoring during conference play with 12 points. Her five goals in MW matches are tied for first. The senior is a three-time All-MW First Team honoree and looking to become just the third player in conference history to earn the distinction four times.

Boise State plays its final home matches of the season Friday and Sunday, at Boas Soccer Complex. The Broncos host Colorado College Friday at 4 p.m., before Air Force comes to town for Senior Day Sunday, at 1 p.m. Heidemann carries a four-match goal scoring streak into the final home weekend of her career.
