KANSAS CITY, Mo. –
The Boise State soccer team was recognized as a Team Academic Award winner by the United Soccer Coaches (formerly the NSCAA) Thursday for its academic accomplishments and exemplary performance in the classroom during the 2016-17 academic year.

The Broncos earned a 2016-17 composite GPA of 3.55, giving them the No. 2 team GPA in the Mountain West for teams who earned the award. The 3.55 also put Boise State in a tie for the 32nd-best team GPA in the nation among NCAA Division I women’s soccer teams that were recognized by the United Soccer Coaches.

A total of 814 collegiate teams (282 men, 532 women) earned the Team Academic Award. United Soccer Coaches annually celebrates the academic achievements of high school and college soccer teams whose student-athletes collectively demonstrate a commitment to excellence in their studies over the course of a full school year.

College Team Academic Award recipients are active members of the United Soccer Coaches College Services Program with a composite grade point of average of 3.0 or better on a 4.0 scale for all players on the roster.

Boise State will host conference-leading Air Force (6-4-1, 3-0-1 MW) tomorrow (Friday, Oct. 6) at the Boas Soccer Complex at 4 p.m.

Tomorrow's match will be Military Day with active or retired military members along with first responders all receiving free admission. The team will also be hosting a youth soccer clinic for fans who are 12 years old or younger after the game.
