LAST TIME OUT: Boise State wrapped up the nonconference portion of its regular season schedule with a tough road trip. The Broncos earned one tie and dropped one match. The loss was a 2-0 setback Friday, at No. 12 Pepperdine. Boise State rallied Sunday, for a 1-1 draw at UC Irvine. KT Clayton scored in the 75th minute to tie the match and the Broncos held on through both overtime periods to get the result.
ABOUT AIR FORCE: The Falcons enter MW play 3-4-0, already matching last season’s win total. Air Force is one of the youngest teams in the country with 20 underclassmen on the roster, including eight regular starters. Five of the Falcons’ seven matches have gone to overtime, but none have ended in a draw. Angela Karamanos leads Air Force with four goals.
All-Time Series: Boise State leads 3-2-0. The Broncos have won two of three since joining the MW, including the last two.
ABOUT COLORADO COLLEGE: The Tigers are in their first season as affiliate members of the Mountain West for women’s soccer. Forward Sarah Schweiss leads the conference with 11 points and five goals. Colorado College was the Conference USA Champion last season. The Tigers enter the weekend on an 18-match unbeaten streak at home.
All-Time Series: Boise State leads 1-0-0. The only previous meeting came in 2010, a 3-1 victory for Boise State in Colorado Springs.
MW HISTORY: In the 15-year history of women’s soccer in the Mountain West there have been five different champions- San Diego State, New Mexico, UNLV, BYU and Utah. No conference champion has ever had more than one loss in MW play. In 10 seasons, the league champion has finished without a loss in conference play, including six times a team won every game.
CONFERENCE OPENERS: Boise State is 4-11-1 all-time in conference openers, with the last win coming in 2010. The Broncos have not won a Mountain West opener.
STARTING ON THE ROAD: In the 17-year history of Boise State women’s soccer, the Broncos have only hosted their conference opener four times. This will mark the sixth-straight season Boise State starts league play on the road. The Broncos last opened their conference slate at home in 2008, and previously did so in 2005, 2001 and 1998.
ROAD WARRIORS: Boise State will have played nine of its first 11 matches away from home, matching the program’s second-fewest home games in the first 11 matches. In 2010 the Broncos were home just once in the first 12 matches.
