Broncos Split Weekend With Loss to Creighton

OMAHA, Neb. - The Boise State women's soccer team dropped its weekend finale against Creighton, 2-0, Sunday. The Broncos fall to 4-6-0 on the season with the weekend split after defeating South Dakota in a double overtime, Friday.

The two sides were evenly matched in the opening period, each getting a few scoring opportunities but unable to convert. Boise State went into the locker room with five shots, three on goal while Creighton fired six shots, two on frame.

Creighton separated itself in the second half, attacking the Broncos' back line. The Bluejays finished with a 16-8 shot advantage and a 11-3 shots on goal edge. Bluejay forward Brittney Neumann led the assault and put away each of Creighton's two goals in the second half. The junior struck in the 57th minute with a shot into the top right corner and 73rd minute with a chip shot over Boise State goalkeeper Liz Ruiz.

Junior Erica Parks led the team with three shots, two of which were on goal.

The Broncos will return home for a long week of training before facing Utah State at the Boas Soccer and Tennis Complex, Sunday, Sept. 25. The match is slated for a 1 p.m. start.

"It's always nice to come back home," said head coach Steve Lucas. "We have some things to work on when we get back and we look forward to getting better."
