Broncos Drop Nevada Tournament Opener
RENO, Nevada - (9/15/06) - The Broncos lost a frustrating match 2-1 to UC-Davis to open the Nevada Soccer Tournament Friday afternoon in Reno, Nev. The match saw the two teams exchange own goals in a extremely cold and windy contest.

All three goals came in the second half, starting with Boise State's score. Senior Annie Tom drove down the right flank then turned into the box. The senior from Honolulu, Hawaii, fired a hard shot that was knocked into the UCD Aggies' goal in the 54th minute by a defender.

The Aggies drew even in the 65th minute when Megan Hall launched a high shot from distance that was picked up by the wind. The shot sailed towards goal where Boise State's keeper, Kim Parker, scrambled to control the wind affected ball. Unfortunately for the Broncos, Parker's momentum carried her into the Bronco goal knotting the score at one all.

The final score was a Boise State own goal as Alli Tsuchida tried to clear a long shot away from goal. To the Broncos misfortune her header touched the by to the left post and out of reach of Parker's diving attempt to save the shot. That put the Aggies up by one score with nine minutes to go.

Boise State was unable to score in the final minutes as they fall to 4-2-0 on they year, UC-Davis improved to 5-1-0.

The Broncos will now face Wyoming at 11:00 a.m. (Pacific) Sunday morning.
