Boise State Travels To Reno For Tournament, Will Face UC-Davis on Friday and Wyoming on Sunday...

The Broncos head to Reno, Nevada this weekend for two matches at the University of Nevada Wolf Pack Tournament. Boise State opens the competition with a 5:00 p.m. (pacific) kick-off against UC-Davis, then wrap up the tournament against Wyoming at 11:00 a.m. Sunday. All matches are played at Mackey Stadium on the UNR campus.

Boise State Enters Week At 4-1-0...

Boise State completed a sweep of last week’s matches defeating Utah Valley State 3-0 in Boise on Wednesday (Sept. 6) and Eastern Washington 4-3 (ot) in Cheney, Washington on Friday (Sept. 8). Juniors Katie Keller and Nicole Tadman recorded two goals each during the week to lead Boise State, while senior Brennan Lau added one goal and two assists. On the year, Keller leads the team in scoring with six points (3g), followed by Lau with five points (1g, 3a).

Boise State returns ten starters and 19 letterwinners from last year’s 10-8-2 team that went 4-3-0 in league play to finish in sixth place, one win out of first place. Head coach Steve Lucas enters his seventh season in charge of the Broncos and ninth overall with the program. He has a 48-58-9 record at the school, it is also his all-time career collegiate record as a head coach.

Tadman Named WAC Soccer Offensive Player of the Week...

Boise State junior midfielder Nicole Tadman has been named the Western Athletic Conference’s Offensive Player of the Week. Tadman, a junior from Lake Forest, Calif. (Mission Viejo HS/Drake), scored two goals last week helping the Broncos (4-1-0) to wins over Utah Valley State and Eastern Washington. She recorded the match-winning goal against Utah Valley State on Wednesday, Sept. 6, in Boise, then followed that up with the first of four Bronco goals in an overtime win at Eastern Washington on Friday, Sept. 8. The two scoring strikes were the first of her Bronco career after transferring to Boise State for her sophomore season in 2005. Tadman’s player of the week honor was the first in her career and the eighth for Boise State since joining the WAC in 2001.

Sept. 15: UC-Davis Aggies (3-1-0) Vs. Boise State...

The UC-Davis enters the week at 3-1-0 overall. The future Big West Conference members (2007-08) are on a two match win streak with home victories over WAC member San Jose State 3-2 (ot) on Sept. 6, followed by a 1-0 win over Idaho State last Sunday (Sept. 10). Prior to that they defeated San Francisco 3-0 in the season opener and lost 1-0 at future Bronco opponent Sacramento State. Boise State and UC-Davis met for the first time last year in Flagstaff, Arizona where the Broncos won 1-0. Dayna Dumont leads the Aggies in scoring with two goals followed by Julia Gamlen with one goal and a assist.

UCD returns six starters and 20 letterwinners from the 2005 squad that went 5-10-3 overall. The Aggies are in their 15th season under head coach MaryClaire Robinson who is 144-101-19 all-time at Cal-Davis.

Sept. 17: Wyoming Cowgirls (1-4-1, MWC 0-0-0) Vs. Boise State...

Sunday’s match against Wyoming will be the second of the series which UW leads 1-0-0. The two programs met in Honolulu, Hawaii at the Outriggers Hotels Invitational in 2000 where the Cowgirls won 2-1. Wyoming a member of the Mountain West Conference enters the week at 1-4-1. They are currently on a three match losing streak with loses to #21 Wake Forest (3-1), Miami of Ohio (2-1), and Old Dominion (1-0) in double-overtime their last time out. The Cowgirls’ lone victory of the year was over Montana 1-0 during the opening weekend. They are led by four individuals who have each scored one goal on the season.

Wyoming returns eight starters and 14 letterwinners from last season when the Cowgirls went 9-7-3 overall and 4-3-0 in conference to place fourth. Anne Moore is the head coach of Wyoming where she has accumulated a 48-76-15 record in seven plus years.

Boise State Vs. Big West Conference...

The Broncos were originally members of the Big West Conference from 1998-2000 where they accumulated a 6-19-1 overall mark as members of the league. To date, Boise State has a 5-17-1 record versus the current BWC members, including UC-Davis who joins the conference next season. Current members are: UC-Santa Barbara (2-1-0), Cal State Fullerton (1-3-0), Cal State Northridge, Long Beach State (0-2-1), UC-Riverside, Pacific (0-3-0), Cal Poly (0-5-0), and UC-Irvine (1-3-0).

Boise State Vs. Mountain West Conference...

The Mountain West has not been kind to the Broncos over the years as Boise State is 1-7-0 all-time versus current league members. The Broncos picked up their first win over the MWC last year when they defeated Air Force 2-1 in Missoula, Montana. Wyoming is the first of two MWC schools on the Boise State schedule this season, the Broncos will host TCU on Sunday, October 1. Current Mountain West members are: BYU, Utah (0-3-0), Wyoming (0-1-0), TCU (0-1-0), New Mexico, San Diego State, Colorado State (no soccer), UNLV (0-2-0), and Air Force (1-0-0).
