MOSCOW, Idaho - The Boise State women's soccer team put away in-state rival Idaho State with a 2-0 victory during its final game of the Governor's Cup, Sunday.

Erica Parks notched her first score of the season, putting away the the game-winning goal for Boise State in the 37th minute. Freshman Shannon Schueren picked up the assist, feeding the ball to Parks in front of the goal before she netted the shot from inside 15 yards. With two points for the goal, Parks moved into a tie for seventh on the Boise State career points list with 35 and now has the third-most game-winning goals in Bronco history (eight).

While the one goal was the most important number for the Broncos in the opening half, several others told the story of their strong play to start the game, such as a 12-3 shots advantage and four corner kicks to the Bengals' zero.

Schueren would later be on the scoring end of a Boise State goal, giving the Broncos some breathing room in the 81st minute off a combination of passes from Kati Lucas to Serena Montoya and eventually to the goal-scorer Schueren. The goal and assist were the first of the Bothell, Wash., native's young Bronco career.

"She is playing like the player we knew she could be when we recruited her," said head coach Steve Lucas. "Right now it's just a matter of fitness for her. She sat out all preseason so her minutes are consistently increasing and she did a great job today."

Liz Ruiz earned her second win of the season, facing 14 shots and keeping away four shots on goal. The game marks her 23rd career win.

Mikhaila Bowden, Lucas and Schueren were each named to the 2011 Governor's Cup All-Tournament Team. Lucas and Schueren each tallied a goal and an assist in the two tournament games while Bowden played every minute of the weekend's action, just as she has all season.

Boise State will face Idaho in the season finale, Oct. 29 in Boise to determine the winner or the 2011 Governor's Cup. The Vandals defeated Idaho State 4-1, Friday.

The Broncos head to Portland next weekend for the Viking Soccer Classic hosted by Portland State. Boise State will take on the Vikings, Friday at 7 p.m. (PT) before closing the event against Cal Poly Sunday at noon.

"We weren't happy with how things had gone up to this morning," Lucas said. "We spent a good deal of time talking about it and making sure we were all back on the same page again. We felt like we responded well today and played a lot more like ourselves."
