Athlete of the Week 8/24-30: Kaylea Perenon
BOISE, Idaho – With women’s soccer and volleyball already in action for the 2009 season, senior midfielder Kaylea Perenon earned Bronco Athlete of the Week honors for the week of Aug. 24-30.  The Boise State women’s soccer team went 1-1 this weekend at the Navy Invitational.

Perenon, a senior from Oakland, Calif., tallied her first three points of the year with a goal and an assist in the Broncos’ 3-1 victory over Rider. The midfielder put the Broncos on the board first with a goal in the 21st minute. After Rider tied the game at 1-1, Perenon helped the Broncos regain the lead with an assist in the 57th minute. That goal would put the Broncos in front for good. In addition to her three points, Perenon put three of her nine shots in goal including one in the Broncos 2-1 loss to Navy.

The Boise State athletic department will choose one athlete to highlight as the Bronco Athlete of the Week for every week of the 2009-10 school year. Check back every Monday to find out who wins the weekly honor.

This week, football will kick-off its season against Oregon while women’s soccer will host their first match of the year against Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Friday. Women’s volleyball hits the road for the first time and will head to the Northwest Challenge in Portland, Ore.
