Just before half freshman Erica Parks nearly gave the Broncos a two-goal advantage when she fired a shot towards goals that hit the crossbar in the 41st minute. In the opening period Boise State outshot Rider eight-to-two in shots and three-to-one in shots on goal.

Boise State opened the second half by extending its lead to 2-0 when Perenon and Fitzgerald teamed up for their second scoring combination of the afternoon in the 56th minute. This time Perenon dished out the assist from the right side to Fitzgerald who beat the charging keeper to the ball then sent a scoring shot into the empty net for a 2-0 Bronco lead.

The Broncos nearly extended their lead to three goals in the 76th minute when Parks drove on goal firing a hard shot that was denied by the keeper. The rebound fell into the path of Boise State's Shannon Saxton who volleyed it back at goal hitting the crossbar in the process.

Moments after Boise State nearly took a 3-0 advantage Rider counter attacked cutting the lead to one in the 78th minute. Alexis Coughlin crossed the ball from the left corner into the box where Angela Lozupone headed it into goal from close range making it a 2-1 game.

Three minutes later Parks gave Boise State back its two goal lead at the 81:07 mark. The play began with the Broncos going on the attack down the right flank when Lindsay Roberts played a long ball to Parks. The freshman from Nampa, Idaho, beat her defender and ran onto the ball for a one-v-one with the keeper. The freshman scored by sending the shot low and to the left corner of the net for the final goal of the 3-1 Boise State victory.
